The moon was high up in the sky, it illuminated our path to Ercruteak
city until the bright lights of the said destination took it's place.
As the wind rattles the zippers of my green blazer and almost knocks
off my headphones, I await Swellow's descent towards Home.
"Hey slow down a bit, Venti! You're gonna bounce me off!" I yelled,
only getting a grunt in response. This thing has a way of not
following orders when it's having fun, yay me...
We finally hit ground in the middle of a crowded street corner,
startling a couple of people with our flashy entrance. I hop off and
give Venti a poke-block.
"Thanks for the lift. It's time we say our good bye." I said, ruffling
the feathers beneath his neck. The big bird looked at me with sad
eyes, but he knows that I won't let him stay. I released the rest of
the team back in Hoenn after our win against Juan.
I watch Venti flap it's wings and fly off into the distance and I wave
him a farewell. I turn back and walk through the crowd. I bump into a
some brown haired kid on my way though, catching his attention.
"Hey watch where you're....wait, isn't that Anderson!? From the TV?" he
yelled, getting the attention of every nosy jerk around him.
"Uh-oh..Busted." Like a moth to the flame, the street rats rushed me
in a frenzy. I heard things from congratulations to can you sign my
face in this wild bull run. Okay I get it, you are proud that another
one of your trainers has proved themselves in the world, but there is
no need to mull me like hungry animals.
I kicked myself into hyper drive, speeding away from the crazies like
a Pikachu on a sugar rush! I make a hard left into a familiar alleyway,
almost killing my converses. I duck behind a garbage bin and watch the
starstruck crowd pass the alley with a confused look on each of their
faces.
"Ah, it's great to be home...Not!" I take out my iTouch and put on my
headphones. I switch on some Maroon 5 to calm myself down, getting up
to walk to the old residential buildings.
Before I left the alley, I noticed a mirror reflecting my image in the
moonlight. I looked at the reflection, I saw fierce emerald eyes
looking right back, wearing a hooded green blazer, a white and black
undershirt, faded jeans, headphones, and ripped up converses. The
black head of hair looked wild and untamed. Is what a true trainer
looks like after taking on the world's best trainers?
"Geez these gym challenges are taking a toll on my good looks. I
look like hell!"
----------------------------------------
The old fashioned shine house screamed lame as I stepped onto the
stone walkway. This house never amused me, even as a little kid. I
slid the door open and flip on the light switch, revealing the world's
dustiest living room. I didn't expect it to be clean, considering
nobody lives in it. I walked over to the counter and wiped the grime
off an old picture frame. The frame held onto the photograph of a
forgotten family. A man, a woman, and a young boy. They all wore Huge,
bright smiles on their faces.
"Hey...Sorry I have been away again, but I'm back! Mom...Dad..." I
gave the frame a small smile before leaving it alone for the night.
I jumped onto a dust covered couch and turned on the TV, wondering at
the same time how everything got paid for. The screen popped the
image of Professor Oak of Pallet town, spilling some speech of battle
tactics.
"While we are on the topic of unique battle strategies, I would like
for you all to pay attention to the battle I am about to display for
you all." The prof said, barely hooking me into the program.
I grabbed the remote and almost clicked the channel button, until
something caught my eye on the prof's show. The monitor to his right
began to display a cheering crowd, watching two guys from the
sidelines. One of the contestants was the ghost gym leader, Morty, who
had a Gengar on his side of the battlefield. The camera moved on to
send a glimpse of the other trainer; it is safe to say that eyes
almost popped out of their sockets when I saw his face. It was man who
looked like he was in his late thirties, He had semi-long black hair
and the same piercing green eyes I have. He wore what looked like a
grey jacket and black jeans. The man had an electrivire on the field.
"What we are about to watch is the officially gym challenge of Alistair
Anderson, so called Green Blaze of Ercruteak City, fight against his
towns Leader Morty. This battle shows Alistair's unique fighting style
and his great teamwork with his Pokemon." Oak said.
I watched as Alistair take something out of his pocket. It was a ring
with a beautiful green gem resting on it. When Alistair put it on, wild
green flames speared on the cuffs of his jacket and his electrivire's
suddenly changed colors to reflect the potency of the flames. My
eyes were glued on the TV, to find the words to describe how I felt
about what I was seeing, but only one slipped out of my mouth.
"Dad?" As soon as it left my mouth, A huge bang came out from behind
me. I jumped to my feet, knowing it sounded like it came out of the
kitchen. I slowly crept inside, spying a smallish dark furred Pokemon
trying get it's head out from under a metal pot. It had a star shaped
tail that was batting against the metal, hopefully trying to get it
out of this jam. I walked over to it lifted the pot off. The Pokemon
was revealed to be a Luxio, a Sinnoh region native. The Luxio sighed
in relief and turned to look at me.
"Hey buddy. Aren't you a little far away from home? What are you-" I
stopped talking due to a pair of paws landing in my face. I fell over
and watched the Luxio run into another room.
"You little brat! Get back here!" I said as I made chase. I saw the
door handle to my room was blown off, so I guess that's where the
little monster ran off to.
"You punk! What are you-" I went speechless yet again when I laid my
eyes on the Luxio. He held a necklace in his mouth, with a certain
ring hanging off it. The troublemaker had Dad's ring in it's mouth.
Damn it, and here I thought leaving it at home would be safest.
"Okay now...Luxio, can you be a good Pokemon and drop that necklace?
It's very important to me." I asked nicely and for a second it looked
like it was considering it. Well you know, until it blew up the window
in my room with an electric attack and ran into the night.
"Damn it"!
I jumped through the busted window and ran after it. Luxio wasn't too
far away from me, so I was able to see it run into the forest. I ran
in an in human speed, almost catching up to the electric type with
ease. Luxio noticed how close I was and fired off lighting at my feet
to keep me distracted. I dodge each strike, nearing after each of it's
attempts.
"You're mine!" I said as I finally got right on Luxio. I swiped it
off of its feet, literally. The cat thing struggled against my grip,
but I easily overpowered.
"Ha! I got you! Now give me back my ring!" Luxio tried to keep it
away from me, but I was grab the ring between one of it's keep away
swings.
Okay this is where things got a bit strange. When I made contact with
the ring, bright light radiated from it! The light blinded me and the
pest in my arms. But if that isn't strange enough, Something clicked
between me and Luxio. It seemed like him and I were looking through
the same eyes and we both saw hundred of images run through our point
of view. I recognized each and everyone of them. One stood out in
particular.
We saw heavy rain falling over a young boy, with Officer Jenny placing a
ring in his hand. The lights of several ambulances bounced off the rain
and into the young boy's face, which showed his tears mixing in with
the rain water. Then another memory took its place.
*Flashback*
"Hey dad?"
"Yeah, Bryan?" My father replied while he trained with Elevotik, the
Electrivire.
"Whats up with that ring of yours?" A younger me asked, pointing at
the ring necklace.
"What?! this old thing?"
"Yeah! Why is it that whenever you put it on you suddenly burst into
flames and you look all serious and junk?"
My father and Elevotik chuckled a bit at my question. They stopped
what they were doing headed towards me.
"Well, it's kinda of hard to explain but..." He started while looking
at the ring in his hand.
"First of all, the ring has a name. It's called Unity."
"Unity..." I repeated, gazing at the gem on top.
"Yes, this ring brings out the true potential of a trainer and his
pokemon and the flames represent that. But there are certain
conditions they must meet."
"What!? Conditions?"
"Yup. The first is that they must be valiant and firm on whatever they
do. And the second..." He paused for a bit to place his hand over my
heart.
"They must have a bond that has been determined by fate." He smiled
after that as Elevoltik placed his palm on my father's head. I looked
at him for a bit before replying.
"That sounds cheesy."
*Flashback end*
The light fades and I drop to my knees with Luxio still in my arms. I
can't believe what just happened. Was it a hallucination or did I
actually go through that? Well I can't keep thinking because a star
shaped tail comes and slaps me to the floor. I rub my face and watch
Luxio run out of the forest with the ring necklace dangling out of his
mouth.
"Oww, Damn it! I'm not letting get away with that ring!" I yell,
running wild through the forest. I make it the outside, noticing
that I was on the outskirts of Ercruteak. The cub was in my line of
sight and he was scurrying away like the little thief he is. He was
close. I caught up to him in no time and grabbed him by one of his ears.
"Haha now you aren't getting away from me y-uff!" without realizing
that I was still running I slammed into a pedestrian. we fell
on the ground and watched the guy slam his face in the dirt.
"Ahh, my face! You jerks! What gives!?" The dude got up and faced us.
He had blonde hair and he was dressed in all white. He looked like a total douche-bag, but I keep that to myself as he begins his tirade.
“Do you know who you just bumped into!? I am White Fang, the world's next greatest pokemon trainer!”
“Uhh, sorry. Its not like I meant to-”
“Ha! I know you! You just beat the Hoenn Gym Challenge. I know how you can make this up to me!” he said rudely interrupting me. He took out a pokeball and threw it to the ground. A Jolteon jumped out the container, releasing electricity from its spiky coat.
“I challenge you to a Pokemon Battle!” he pointed at me after announcing his challenge.
“Okay, look I'm sorry for bumping into you but I can't have a battle with no pokemon...wait...” I looked at the furry pain in the ass besides me. He was staring that Jolteon down with a fierce glare. I guess Luxio feels that the Jolteon is the same as his Trainer, real full of BS.
Luxio took a second to look at me. We locked eyes and I saw something similar between us. We were both lonely stragglers and fate decided to pair us up.
“You want to beat him don't you?”
“Lux!” he replied, placing Father's ring back in my possesion. I looked at the ring, finally noticing that maybe he's wasn't saying all that cheesy stuff for nothing. I closed my eyes and placed the ring on my middle finger.
I felt a rush of power enter me. Green flames appeared on my headphones and on Luxio's star tail. As I faced White Fang, I remembered what my old man called this change.
“Its got a cool name! I made up myself. I call it...”
“Blaze Sync!” I yelled, feeling a connection form between Luxio and I.
“ Hmph! Think that magic trick is gonna scare me freak!?” he remarked.
“Do you ever shut up? Let's just do this already.” This guy was starting to get on my nerves, I'm sure it was annoying the furry one as well. I could see it in his gleaming eyes.
“Oh now your asking for it! Get ready Jolteon!” We stood firm, tensing up for their first move.
“Jolteon...Use Giga Impact!” Jolteon began to emit hues of purple and red all around its body and ran towards Luxio.
We both stood thee, stunned at what this pokemon was doing. When the spiky critter reached striking range, it jumped with full force. Sadly Jolteon never hit its mark, seeing as Luxio lazily side-stepped out of the way, but it did hit a very hard tree. The eeveeloution left a nice dent in the oak tree.
“What are you doing Jolteon!? You're embarrassing us! Get back up!” He yelled, getting it's attention. He surprisingly got up after taking such a hard hit.
“He's embarrassing you? You shouldn't have taught a special attack using Pokemon Giga Impact. It will just end up hitting another tree.” I retorted causing White Fang's face to turn a nice shade of red.
“Arrg! That's it! Giga Impact again!” Jolteon complied by summoning the energy again, starting its run once more.
“Luxio, lets end this farce of a battle.” I heard a small roar in reply and he ran to meet the charge.
“Iron tail!”
His flame covered the rest of the tail and formed into a tough steel that smashed through the aura of the Giga Impact. The tail slammed into Jolteon, sending it flying. White Fang's face dropped and he started running in the direction his pokemon flew towards.
“No! Hang in there buddy I'm coming!”
I sighed and took off the ring. The flames flickered away from both of us. As White Fang ran, he dropped a pokeball which I decided to pick up. I crept behind Luxio who was doing some sort of happy dance over his victory. I bopped the pokeball on his head and in a brilliant red light he entered the pokeball and was officially captured.
“That's what you get for causing me so much trouble!” I said, holding the ball in front of me. I pressed the release button and he came back out looking a little peeved.
“But I guess I should be grateful that you showed up. I would have never made a real pokemon friendship.” I said, laughing.
I started to walk back to Ercruteak City with Luxio following my stride, ready for anything the future holds.
