Chapter 10
A stained-glass window took up the majority of the wall on the far side of the room. Not far from it was a solid oak desk, which often was used as a mirror. On top of the desk was an assortment of papers, some in stacks, most strewn across the desk without a care. The brass name plate read "V. Tierson, Second-in-Command." The man who owned the desk and name plate was seated in a leather chair, furiously signing documents. His head and face were covered by a mass of neatly kempt hair that was whiter than the snow-covered routes of Sinnoh. His eyes were of the same color as his desk. He wore a lavender T-shirt, covered by a rich purple suit jacket. His pants matched his jacket perfectly, as did his shoes. The carpet underneath his feet was thick cashmere. It spread across the entirety of his office, from the stained-glass window to the steel grandfather clock, to the glass case that held six Premier Balls. Inside those Premier Balls was a team of Pokemon trained for battle with any foe. They were often used to snuff out rebelions that broke out in Team Celestium. The solid oak door opened, and in the doorway stood a young woman of twenty-one. While not related to the man at the desk at all, her hair was the same exact color. However, her hair reached much farther down than the man's; it went all the way to the middle of her thighs. Her slacks, high heels, and shirt all matched this color. Her coat was like that of a polar bear's, yet very fluffy at the hem. This woman in white closed the door quickly behind her. The emptiness of the room multiplied the sound of the door tenfold, startling the man at the desk.
"Hmph. This best be important, Eve," said the man as he looked up.
"You went into the field today," said Eve. It wasn't a question.
"Not today, no. Recently, yes. I'm a grown man, why should you be concerned with me leaving the premises?" asked the man.
"You haven't done fieldwork since the Distortion World Incident," replied Eve. "I was concerned for your safety."
The man let out a hardy laugh. "Oh, Eve, my dear. You have no reason to be concerned for MY safety. All I wanted to do was a bit of scouting for myself."
"You? Scouting? I don't believe it for a second, Viktor. There has to be something more to this sudden change of heart."
Viktor let out another hardy laugh. "If only there was, eh, Eve? But there isn't. I was scouting the skills of the Banzuke Brats. They're getting in our way again, just like they did a few years ago. I wanted to see if they would be any more troublesome than last time, and sure enough," said Viktor. "Although, this time won't be a repeat of last time. The Distortion World Incident was a tragedy, and I wish not to have another one."
"Yes, I know. You don't have to lecture me on Celestium's ultimate goal again."
"Good. Then you'll know how much I hate violence as well."
"Indeed I do. Still...." She paused a moment before continuing. "Well, I suppose I'll leave you to your work. If I need anything, I'll come back to you."
"Certainly, my dear. Take care now," said Viktor. Eve turned for the door, but stopped midway.
"Wait. There was something else I'd forgotten about," she said. "Viktor, did you go to Azalea Town recently?"
"Indeed I did."
Eve waited, but nothing more was said. "What was your business in Johto? It's quite a ways away."
Viktor's face became very solemn. "My trip there was to recruit a child for Team Celestium."
"A child!?" screamed Eve. "What!? No! I won't have it! What we do is too dangerous for children! And what about his family?"
"Eve," Viktor said calmy, "this child is an orphan. He has no family to call the police. And he is an amazing battler for someone his age. His Marowak is very interesting; the two seem to share a mental link that lets them know what the other is thinking. Quite extraordinary if I say so myself."
"And what exactly is he going to do for Team Celestium?"
"He's going to be a bargaining piece. The Banzuke League won't interfere if there's the possibility of this child getting hurt."
Eve gasped. "How could you stoop so low?" she hissed.
"Rai was all for it. Since he's in charge of security, he needed something that would help keep the brats at bay should they try any funny business. I wouldn't be surprised one bit if they tried a break-in to retrieve the PokeBall sealing away the Beast of the Heavens."
Eve was beside herself with disgust. But how could she argue that the Banzuke League would try and take back the PokeBall sealing away the Beast of the Heavens? "I will make security tighter on the premises. They won't interfere with our plans like last time, Viktor." With that, Eve pivoted on her left foot, opened the door, and left.

It was night time. Most of the Banzuke League was at Doc's lab in Castelia City. Nite was in Hoenn, Kaiser, Defy, and Malus were off training in who-knows-where, and Warrior was still missing. The police had had asolutely no leads with finding Warrior. Jason was still very adamant about going to search for him, but no one else would have it.
Doc and Spade were seated at a table, plotting a break-in to get back the PokeBall that Warrior had found in the desert. They had recently found the location of Team Celestium's base. Doc was still apprehensive to break into said base when they still knew so little about Team Celestium or the artifact they planned to steal. After their visit with Kurt, Doc had done extensive research on it, yet still found so little.
"OoooooooKAY! So! That should be enough planning for one day, eh, Doc?" asked Spade.
"Yes, I suppose. We can always continue this tomorrow." He looked at the clock hanging above their heads. "Sheesh, one in the morning. And we still have to get up so early...." They both moaned at this.
"Yeah, but the sooner we head off, the sooner we'll sleep," said Spade. He rubbed his eyes and yawned. "I'm out, Doc. See ya in a couple hours."
"All right," replied Doc. "I'll just leave this here; I'll check on everybody else before I sleep."
"Nah, they're all upstairs anyway. I can do it; you've been working overtime with this."
"Thanks," said Doc. He led the way upstairs to the sleeping quarters. What seemed like a small hallway spread out like a tree's branches to the different rooms of the Banzuke Fighters. Since Doc owned the lab, his room, the Master Bedroom, was at the end of the hall. There were four rooms on either side of the hallway, each room packing two beds and a bathroom. Each room had two windows, one near each bed. Usually it was only Bryan, Warrior, and Doc himself who stayed in the Lab, but with the recent events, everyone decided to stay at Doc's lab. Jason, Alex, Spade, and Bryan all had their own rooms.
"Everything seems to be in check," said Spade.
"Ah, then I'll hopefully sleep easy."
"I've no doubt you will. Night, Doc."
"Good night, Spade," replied Doc. They each went to their own rooms. Doc felt he'd never been more tired in all his life, and he passed out once his head hit the pillow. Though he'd wished for it, he did not sleep pleasantly that night. A horrible nightmare plagued his sleep, one of a memory that no member of Banzuke will soon forget....

***The Banzuke Headquarters in the sky, four years prior to the story.***
A large group of people were gathered in the common room. The television was on at a loud volume, despite being the only distinctive noise. The news reporter was in a frantic jumble, and the cameraman himself was shaking.
"Hello, everyone. We're bringing you another update on the issue in Sinnoh atop Mount Coronet. A dimensional rift has occured, and three people have been reported to have walked through said rift. Officials are standing by, but they have yet to venture into the rift themselves. They are not disclosing any information at this time, but there are rumors floating about, saying that an evil organization, much like Team Galactic in the past, is working on catching the legendary Pokemon Giratina. This Pokemon has yet to even be confirmed to exist, let alone have a way to figure out how. We will bring you more information as we get it. For now, back to Jeff in the studio." The view switched to one of a man in a news studio at a desk. At this, the television was muted, and one of the people spoke up.
"where the heck are Doc and Thunder!? They're missing all the drama unfold!" The one who spoke was Malus, a Banzuke fighter. He was rather tall for an eighteen-year-old, standing at an intimidating six feet, two inches. His pitch black hair was darker than that of Bryan Anderson, who sat next to him. His looks haven't changed much in four years, aside from growing and inch or two. Nathan Claw was on the couch as well. His ten-year-old self looked very similar to his fourteen-year-old self, sans his height.
"Yeah! I mean, where else could they be except here? Now isn't a time to make food!" said Spade. Four years ago, he wore glasses. In the years since, he's worn contact lenses.
"They're probably off having a cool adventure without telling us," complained Warrior. It hadn't been long since his first encounter with the Shadow Trainer in Lavender Town, and to this day, no one knows about the events that took place there.
The conversation ceased very quickly as the presence of two more people were made known. One stood about four feet, eleven inches in height. His brown hair was longer than that of his present day hair, and a mullet was forming in the back. His choice of attire had changed, though; four years ago, he wore baggy jeans and a dark navy blue sweatshirt. The young man standing next to him had spiky hair like in the cartoons.
