CHAPTER 6
*Written by Blackspade*
That's it. Those shady characters, whoever they are, need to be stopped. They hurt my friends Pokemon. They put Warrior in a coma. They stole Doc's artifact. They made my best friend leave. They can mess with me all they want. They can torture me, hold me captive, do whatever they damn well please. But once you mess with Maxwell Spade's friends, you're digging your own grave.
When the last cloaked man, Shark, disappeared, I found a large key that he had dropped. There was a poem inscribed on its side. It read:
"An island in the sea of sand, valiantly a tower stands,
For those who brave the great beyond, a greater world shall soon be spawned"
Dear Lord, I thought I was finished with cryptic bullsh*t when I beat Legend of Zelda. I guess not. Well, I spend the next few minutes outside Doc's lab figuring this out. Obviously, the "sea of sand" is the Nimbasa Desert. The "tower" is most likely the cloaked men's HQ. That settles it: I'm going to find this place. I can't let the others know; they might try to stop me. Or worse, they'd get hurt. I was flying solo this time.
"Ready to fly, Garchomp?" 'Gaaarrrr' Garchomp is about as amped up about this as I am. He and Nite's Flygon, Sandstorm, have known each other since before they evolved.
Garchomp rockets off into the night sky, as I cling to it's fin. We hit the Nimbasa Desert shortly, as it's just North of Castelia City. The big, orange sun was just breaking over the horizon. If you've never seen a sunrise in the desert, you don't know what beauty is. The sun shines on the sand, obstructed only by the dunes and cacti.
As we're flying, something catches my eye; a figure with armor on his arms and legs walks with an Electivire. Two men follow him, wearing cloaks with the same insignia Shark had on his clothing.
"I think we'll land here" Garchomp slowly glides down in front of the three men. The one beside the Electivire slowly starts to grin.
"The Mistress had a feeling you'd be coming here. Listen, kid, the artifact is ours!" he shouts.
In a flash, the other two men send out their Pokemon. A Houndoom and Krookodile stare me dead in the face. "I guess it's time for you goons to meet my other friends" I throw down two PokeBalls simultaneously.
My other two Pokemon, Blaziken and Rampardos, burst out of their PokeBalls. Rampardos stares down Krookodile and Blaziken stares down Houndoom. Electivire and Garchomp look ready to fight.
We sit there in dead silence, both waiting for the other to move. Finally, one of the grunts shouts a command: "Krookodile, Night Slash!."
Big mistake. "Rampardos, bank left and Head Smash!" Rampardos dodges the attack and slams into Krookodile with unbelievable force. "Blaziken, jump up and strike down with Brave Bird!" Predicting the opponent's move, Houndoom lunges toward Blaziken as he jumps, then gets creamed by Brave Bird.
"Electivire, Wild Charge!" the man with the gauntlets yells. Electivire rushes toward Garchomp, enveloped in electrical sparks. Garchomp swiftly dodges, and strikes with Dragon Claw, only to have Electivire block it and throw an Ice Punch. Garchomp recovers, but just barely.
The battle raged on for what seems like forever, when suddenly the grunts send out more Pokemon. Garchomp and Rampardos both fall unconscious. Blaziken is exhausted.
"Give up, kid! We outnumber you," a grunt threatens.
"Now, now, Brutus, the Mistress wanted us to scout this child. He seems to be a strong battler, and also one of the more stubborn of the Leaugue members. The mistress has taken an interest in him, for some reason"
"That's no excuse! Finish him!" Houndoom lunges toward Blaziken. Dear God help me. How foolish was I to think I could take on all of them?
Suddenly, a Thunderbolt strikes Houndoom flat. Rotom zooms in toward the other Pokemon, followed by Alex.
"Spade, what were you thinking? You could've at least told us you were going to do something stupid like this!"
"How'd you guys find me?"
"We checked your Pokenav location. And you're damn lucky we did. Rotom, Shadow Ball!"
Just then, Monty and his Nidoking show up. "Nidoking, Earth Power!" Nidoking raises pillars of stone from the ground that batter his opponents.
I get Blaziken fighting again, and together, we defeat the grunts. "Wasn't that sheer badass-itude?" Monty proclaims.
"Hmm. I suppose you and your friends are tougher then we expected," says the gauntlet man. "You can call me Rai. You haven't seen the last of Team Celestium!" Rai and his lackeys throw down smoke bombs, and they're gone.
"Glad that's over. Now let's fly the hell out of here!" Monty suggests.
"When we get back, I have to show Doc this key I found," I say
We take off into the sky on our Pokemon with the wind in our faces, off to Castelia
