CHAPTER 4

A sense of urgency hung in the air. Doc knew he had to do something, so he called for an ambulance for Bryan and Warrior, then decided to check up on them. He went back to the entrance hall. Warrior's breathing was shallow, yet Doc was certain he'd make it. Doc ran to get a pillow to keep Warrior's head elevated. After tending to Warrior, he went to check out Bryan. He wasn't nearly as bad as Warrior was, just a few bruises.
"Monty! Monty, wake up!" Doc shook Bryan gently. Slowly, his eyes opened to make contact with Doc's.
"Ugh... My head is pounding..." said Bryan.
"Anything else?" asked Doc.
"No, that's about it.... How's War? Is he going to be all right?"
"I've called for an ambulance. They should be here any minute. And our friends are showing up as well."
"That's good. So long as he's okay. He took quite a fall." Bryan stopped talking, and he and Doc listened. The ambulance was here.
"I better go tell them what happened," said Doc. "You stay here until they come to get you." Doc stood up, and strode over to the door. He explained the incident to the paramedic, and Warrior was taken away on a stretcher. Bryan followed soon after. On the way out, Bryan stopped the paramedic.
"Doc," he said, "don't worry about us. I'll recover quickly, then look after War for you guys. You just do what you can to find that guy." With that, the paramedics took him away. Doc walked outside and watched the ambulance drive away.
"You better watch yourself, kiddo." Doc whirled around to see another man in a black trench coat and sunglasses, but this man had a bowler hat, and his voice was rougher than that of the previous man.
"You'd best be going before you regret coming here," retorted Doc.
"Such imbecilic chatter. Can you live up to such a ridiculous claim? It's doubtful that you can. Two of your friends just got carried away on stretchers, and the rest won't be here for roughly another half hour. But if you want to try and beat me, I suppose I've got time to kill." The man revealed a Luxury Ball from the depths of his trench coat. "Go! I choose Muk!" A huge mass of purple goop was released from the Luxury Ball.
"Heracross! You're up!" yelled Doc. A blue blur flew out of the house and landed on the ground. "Get ready! I have a feeling this isn't going to be easy!" Heracross looked back and gave Doc a look of reassurance.
"Muk! Use Fire Punch!" Muk formed a fist, and it became enveloped in fire. It lunged at Heracross.
"Quick, dodge!" yelled Doc. But he was too late, and the firey sludge connected with Heracross. "Come on, Heracross! You can do this! Use Night Slash!" Heracross' claw began glowing a dark aura. Heracross rushed up to Muk, and slashed at its face. The goop slid back and became dazed. "Again, Heracross!" Heracross obeyed, and this time did an uppercut to the Muk. "Now, Heracross! Use Stone Edge!" Heracross cloaked its claw in stone, flew up, and smashed Muk into the ground.
"NO!!" shouted the cloaked man. "I can't be defeated by an amateur like you! Muk! Get up and use Fire Punch!" Muk slowly got up from the ground, cloaked its fist in fire, and launched it at Heracross while he was in the air.
"Dodge it, Heracross! Use Stone Edge once more!" Heracross slipped to the left, and came down on Muk with a stone-enveloped claw. He flew back to stand in front of Doc.
"Muk! Get up! You want to be shown up by this chump!?" yelled the man.
"It's over! Admit I won!"
The cloaked man growled. "You won't get anywhere in life being a little brat!" he spat. "Don't think that our battle stops here, kid!" The man turned and ran off down the street into the darkness of the night.
"You did amazing, Heracross!" Doc said. Heracross seemed to blush at the compliment. "Come on, we've gotta get you healed up." Doc and Heracross went back inside the lab. Heracross was called back into his PokeBall for healing. About five minutes passed by, then there was a loud "DING!" heard from the machine. "There we go, Heracross. Feeling better?" Doc released Heracross once more. Heracross and Doc both smiled at each other.
"Prepare for mental warfare!" Doc heard the voice of a man he didn't know. A scuffle was heard. He and Heracross rushed to the back to see an Alakazam attacking Jaycee's Infernape with Psybeam. The man who owned the Alakazam was in the same garb as the other two men from that night. Doc knew he had to act fast.
"Heracross! Use Megahorn!" Heracross launched itself at Alakazam, horn first, knocking it to the ground.
