CHAPTER 3
*Written by Blackspade*
"Hold on, we'll be there in a flash". I close the line on the PC. "You guys know the drill. We're Castelia-bound"
It's dark outside as we stand on the edge of our hovering Headquarters, in the beautiful sky garden. Everybody sends out their Pokemon. I send out Garchomp. As I send him out, I catch my reflection in a pond in the garden. My deep, golden eyes against the crystal water seem to shine. According to my girlfriend, I'm good-looking, but it's hard to tell. I guess being 6'2" and muscular aren't drawbacks, and my flipped, long brown hair isn't too shabby either.
"Ready for flight, guys?" my voice mocking that of a pilot.
"Locked, loaded, and ready for action!" Alex assures me, clinging to his Volcarona. Volcarona's amber wings glisten in the moonlight.
Jaycee leads the countdown. "3, 2, 1, Blastoff!" Jaycee's Dragonite lifts its feet of the ground and shoots off into the sky.
I hold on to Garchomp's fin as we soar through the air like a fighter jet. Purely exhilarating is the sensation of flight. It's funny how much time we spend exploring the land and the sea, when the sky is so fresh and new. Even more mysterious than the sky is what lies above, beyond our grasp.
It's been quite a while, and I'm certain we're near Castelia when I see skyscrapers illuminating the night sky like urban lighthouses. "Do you see Doc's lab anywhere, Nite?"
"I think I can make it out." Nite's Flygon starts to glide downwards toward the ground below. "Follow my lead, everybody!"
We all make smooth landings in Doc's Lab courtyard, as we see a cloaked figure jump down from a tree. The sound of an opening pokeball shatters the serene nighttime silence.
Out of the blue, A Weavile strikes Jaycee's Dragonite violently. "Weavile, Ice Punch!" the cloaked man's voice is guttural and harsh. The speeding Pokemon darts up a tree and rockets toward Nite's Flygon with it's fist coated in ice.
"Quick, Flygon, dodge it! Counter with Iron Tail!" Nite commands. Flygon's tail becomes covered in shining energy and it strikes down on it's opponent.
"Dodge it!" yells the mystery man. "Hit it with Ice Punch!" Weavile narrowly escapes Flygon's Dragon Claw and strikes it with Ice Punch. Flygon utters a cry and drops to the floor.
"Give up, you foolish children! Hehehe-" the cloaked assailant's laughter is disrupted by the sound of blazing fire. A speeding red blur shoots across the field toward Weavile, striking it with Close Combat. Jaycee's Infernape beats down on it's opponent with a furious storm of punches and kicks.
Weavile hits the floor, unconscious. "That's for sneaking up on my Dragonite, Beeyotch!" Jaycee mocks the cloaked man.
The mystery assassin chuckles darkly. "It's not over yet, you meek child!" Abruptly, the man hurls a pokeball into the air. "Prepare to face mental warfare!"
The pokeball bursts open to reveal an Alakazam. It shoot's a beam of psychic energy right at Infenape. "Dodge it!" Infernape climbs the tree and jumps from branch to branch, evading the Psybeams fired by its opponent.
Suddenly, the Psybeams stop. Alakazam is tackled to the ground by a Heracross, seemingly out of nowhere. "Megahorn, again!" It's Doc, just in time to save Infernape.
"Who are you people and why do you keep coming here?" Shouts Doc.
"You fools. That artifact, it's not meant for you're inferior motives." blurts the man. "Anything else of value here must be confiscated at once!"
"Look, buddy, I pay good money for all this crap! All my analyzation equipment, my battle simulator, all of that stuff I have for a reason; to improve my league and it's members! Who are you anyway?" Refutes Doc
"Heh heh heh. You can't be anymore naive, you pitiful child. There are far better realms than the one we reside in. We must ascend. Ascension is the only answer. For now, you can call me Shark. And there'll be plenty more where I came from." Shark throws down a strange sphere and smoke envelopes him. When the smoke clears out, he's nowhere to be seen.
"Spade, Thank god you're here!" Doc says. "There's so much I need to tell you"
