CHAPTER 2
*Written by DrAwsm*
"Come on, Monty, you can do it! Just a little longer!" Doc's voice echoed throughout the training chamber.
"Easy for you to say!" Monty said to the headset on his face. "You're not the one with a Salamence hunting for you! And, to top it off, two of my Pokemon are down, and Luxray can't handle this much longer!"
"Then I'd suggest you find a way to deal with it," replied Doc. Monty's groan was more than audible. Doc was considered a prodigy of science by many, but he shrugged off their praise; he didn't care much for it. At his ripe age of 15, he mainly cared about honing his battling skills and helping others do the same. He'd planned and helped build the lab he was currently in and the Banzuke Fighters' base of operations. He stood an average five feet, seven inches tall. His brown hair was barely an inch long, and some said that he had the brownest eyes they'd ever seen. He usually wore midtop sneakers, tan cargo shorts, and a plain black T-shirt.
The one in the training simulation, Monty, was wearing a tan blazer, an undershirt, faded blue jeans, and sneakers. A chain on his neck held only a ring. His black headphones blended in with his long black hair. It was quite difficult to look him in the eye because his green eyes seemed to see right through you and see your deepest secrets.
The sliding door behind Doc opened and in walked a teenager the same age as Doc. This teenager was clad in worn, black pants, gray shirt, running sneakers, faded cape, and facial hair galore. This is the self-proclaimed "cave man" of the Banzuke Fighters, Warrior.
"Man, War, you really gotta shave," said Doc. "You club any dinosaurs lately?"
"Yeah... no. You've gotta see what I found in the Desert Resort ruins!" Warrior pulled out a lumpy cloth object. After folding back the fabric a bit, a stone orb was in Warrior's hands. "It's really dirty because I rushed here as soon as I picked it up. I thought it could be something interesting."
"Indeed it is, War." Doc spoke to the microphone, "Monty, time's up, get out of there and come check out what War found."
"Finally!" came Monty's muffled cry.
About fifteen minutes later, the three of them were in an examination lab. After cleaning the orb, it appeared to be an ancient PokeBall of some sort.
"Where in the world did you find this, War?" asked Monty.
"I told you, it was in the Desert Resort ruins. Probably the third basement down or something."
"Hmmmm.... It's remarkably intact. Though the hinge is rather rickety, and I don't want to risk breaking it. But its contents are enticing...." Doc was dead set on getting this ancient PokeBall open.
"How are you going to get it open, then, Docman?" asked War.
"I don't have the tools here. We'll have to take it to the museum in Nacrene City. Alternatively, we'll fly to Cinnabar Island and get the scientists there to look at it. I've got a few friends who'd be willing to help us get this open safely."
"Sounds like a plan," said Monty. "I've got a cousin on Cinnabar that'll let us stay at his house while the scientists look at the PokeBall."
"Sweet. I'll start packing." War left with that sentence.
"I'll call my cousin and have arrangements for our stay," said Monty.
"Alright, sounds good," replied Doc.
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. "I've got it!" yelled War. "Hey! What are you doing!?" The sound of a Pokemon being released was heard. "So that's how it'll be played? Blastoise, take care of this guy!" Monty and Doc got up and hurried to the front hall. Warrior was standing there with Blastoise in front of him. A man in a dark trench coat, sunglasses, and black hat was in front of the door. He'd sent out a Venusaur.
"Venusaur, use Power Whip," commanded the man in his smooth, low voice. Venusaur obeyed the man, and a glowing vine lashed out from the Pokemon's plant on its back. It struck Blastoise in the chest, causing him to fly back into Warrior. Neither of them got up.
"Warrior!" Doc and Monty yelled simultaneously. They rushed to his side, picking up Blastoise with all their strength. Doc's Heracross showed up and helped out. Doc checked Warrior's pulse.
"He's alive, but he needs to get checked out by a doctor," said Doc.
"What's wrong with you!?" yelled Monty. "You could have killed him! Luxray, show this guy who's boss! Ice Fang!" Luxray leapt at Venusuar as its fangs coated themselves in ice.
"Power Whip again, Venusaur!" shouted the man. Venusaur shot its vines out again at Luxray before it could strike. Luxray ended up down the hall.
"No! Luxray!" Monty rushed to aid his Pokemon.
"Give it to me. The stone that you found today. Where is it?" hissed the man. "I want it in my hand or the boy in dark clothes will be hurt even more."
Doc had only one option, and that was to give the man what he wanted. He went back to the examination room, picked up the stone PokeBall, walked up to the man, and handed it to him.
"Pleasure doing business with you." The man called back his Venusaur, and walked out of the lab. Doc ran to the PC and called the Banzuke headquarters.
"Spade, Nite, Alex, Jaycee? Close down the stadiums, we need you here, and fast!"
