CHAPTER 1
*Written by Blackspade*
Fire. Fire surges through me. As the forceful flames pumps through my veins, with no company other than pure adrenaline that fuels it. This is the feeling of a battle. My long-time partner Pokemon, Garchomp, narrowly dodges a fierce Ice Beam shot from the opponent's Feraligatr. "Spin around and use Dragon Claw!" I utter, as Garchomp swings around and strikes Feraligatr down to the ground with a loud crash. That's the last one. "Fancy flying there, buddy." Garchomp flashes me a look of satisfaction.
"Great battle, Jimmy." he showed quite some potential. "I can see how you got 16 badges." Jimmy nods in approval.
"I had a great time! I'll challenge you guys again as soon as I get better!" he promises.
"Well then, train your hardest, kiddo. Good luck!" I bid Jimmy farewell as he exits the stadium.
You see, I'm part of an elite, inter-regional syndicate of trainers known as the Banzuke World Fighters League. We only accept challenges from trainers with 16 or more badges. We operate on a hovering citadel above the sea east of Lilycove City, accessible through flight or via teleportation devices inside any Pokemon Center. It was built by Doc, one of our members, and it's a stunning structure. It's a chain of several outdoor stadiums, a common room for meals, meetings and hanging out, and a sky garden courtyard around the perimeter, where wild Hoppip sometimes play. Four of us are randomly selected to battle each challenger, and if they beat us, they are given the Omega Badge, a symbol of elite battle skills, held by only 6 known trainers to date. We used to have a leader, Kaizen, who, during our fight with team Galactic, destroyed Distortion World to save the Sinnoh region, costing him his life. Now we operate as equals, but we work to avenge our fallen leader by working towards his ideals of the League.
After I heal my Pokemon, I head up to the Commonroom for dinner. "Goodness, Spade! Finally your battle's over! I've been waiting to eat forever!" Alex proclaims. Alex has brown, mid-length hair and blueish-gray eyes. He's full of energy and tends to be impulsive, but he's a friendly kid, and a strong trainer. My friends welcome me, and we begin the meal. Niteclaw and Flygon, Jaycee and Lucario, and Alex and Rotom all dig in to their meals.
"Say, where's the others?" I ask.
"They went to Doc's lab in Castelia. Apparently Warrior found a mysterious object when he was trekking in the Desert Resort." Nite answers. Nite's the strong, silent type, but he always seems to know whats going on. He's tall, with wide shoulders, and despite being young he's dangerous in battle.
Jaycee laughs "The Desert Resort? Last time I was there, all these weirdos came out of the woodwork throwing Rage Candy Bars at statues". Jaycee has long, brown hair and blue eyes, a short build. He's the jokester of the bunch, and also the youngest, but don't let that fool you: his hyper-offense strategy can rip you to shreds if you're not careful.
"We four are in charge of challengers while their gone. It must be pretty important." Nite tells us. "I wonder what the object could be...."
Suddenly, the ring from the PC sounds through the air. Frantically, Alex rushes over and accepts the call. It's Doc.
"Spade, Nite, Alex, Jaycee? Close down the Stadiums, we need you here, and fast!"
